Low Impact Development
What it is...
Low Impact Development (LID) is a term used in the United States to describe a land planning and engineering design approach to managing storm-water runoff. LID emphasizes conservation and use of on-site natural features to protect water quality. This approach implements engineered small-scale hydrologic controls to replicate the pre-development hydrologic regime of watersheds through infiltrating, filtering, storing, evaporating, and detaining runoff close to its source.
About Us...
Three Bridges commitment to the environment starts with Low Impact Development. We have been working closely with the Department of Environment Quality (DEQ) to make the best use of the land and impact as little as possible while creating a beautiful environment for the community, family and neighboring areas.
Besides the 10 small nature parts included in the Three Bridges waterside community (located in South Haven, Michigan) there will be a number of Rain Gardens implemented as part of a natural controlled storm drainage system.
Today it is becoming exceedingly important to protect the environment in anyway we can, while continuing to provide quality living accommodations for you and your children. We believe very strongly about taking steps to not only maintain the environment, but to do things to improve it for everyone.
We will be using many of the trees from the property and relocating them back into a natural setting that will improve the overall quality and beauty of the land and breath taking views of the three main water features, including two small lakes and a pond.
